The July SFPE Monthly Meeting will be held, July 18, 2019 11:30 AM, CDT.
This meeting that will begin with lunch at 11:30 followed by a short business meeting at noon, and following that will be a networking and knowledge open forum discussion session where we will discuss various challenges we have encountered throughout the last year and over our careers as a whole.
For some time now there have been discussions on how
it would be beneficial to our group if once a year, our chapter gathered together and held an open, but focused, discussion where the members of our chapter could share the wealth of knowledge and experience that they have accumulated over their careers.
We all posses certain levels of knowledge related to different topics and some of us are subject matter experts in certain fields. With that in mind and with the overall goal of our meetings to be for our membership to increase their awareness of industry related topics it is incumbent upon us to share our thoughts and insights with each other so that we can continue the betterment ourselves, our profession, and our membership as a whole. This month we will do just that by having a membership discussion forum.
Right now some of the subjects we may cover are related to:
- How to approach a project of which you have little past experience?
- How to balance your role between the AHJ and your client?
- Highlighting some of the new things you learned this year or years passed that were significant?
- What addition certifications or training you feel benefit Engineers, AHJ's, Architects, Alarm/Suppression Personnel etc
- Topics related to the project that seemed like it would never end and how you handle that.
- Alternative building department approaches that have come forth in Oklahoma and being used in certain cities and towns.
Please send me any other topic points you would like to toss around the room, or you may bring things up during our discussion as this meeting is meant to be informal, open, and inviting.
Anyone who attends can be assured that you will be heard. This is your group and this discussion will rely heavily on interaction from everyone. So please come ready to be open and honest and know you are a part of our SFPE community and we couldn't do any of this without members like you.
This is not only a learning opportunity for all of us, its also a chance to share our experiences with our fellow colleagues.
